Snippet Saturday - Endings

This story was not only sexy, but it tugged at my heart even as I wrote it. Imagine being a prisoner in another person's life...

WITCH'S CURSE
by Myla Jackson

Blurb

As punishment for using magic unwisely, Catherine Wein, ex-witch and totally cursed, is doomed to spend each year in a different woman's life. It's New Year's Eve and at the stroke of midnight she’ll make the switch to another host’s life. Catherine's determined to grab for as much happiness as she can with her remaining hours in Kindra Merlot’s body. Enter sexy cop, Sam Cade.

Dumped by his girlfriend right after Christmas, Sam isn't in the mood to celebrate until he sees the willowy beauty, Kindra. Her sensuality and sexual aggressiveness revives his lagging spirits. Is she the one for him or is she another lying, cheating woman like his ex? Will he have more than tonight to find out?

Excerpt

Catherine dove into the elevator and hit the button that closed the doors. Her fingers punched the lobby button. She didn’t want to get off on her floor in case Sam followed her to Kindra’s apartment. As the elevator descended, she counted the seconds. It must be midnight by now. When would her soul float free and Kindra be on her own?

When she reached the lobby level, she could hear the happy shouts of the party-goers ringing in the New Year. This was it.

“Take care, Kindra. I love you and please give your life a chance.”

I love you too, Catherine. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be all right.

As she stepped into the crowded lobby, Dolly descended on her. “Catherine or Kindra?”

“Both.” Catherine grabbed Dolly’s hand and held on, not wanting to go but knowing she had to.

“The clock is striking midnight as we speak.” Dolly hugged her. “I’ll always be here for you. You know that.”

“I know.” Catherine kissed her cheek. “Be happy, Dolly. And watch out for Kindra.”

“I will.” Dolly’s eyes glistened with unshed tears.

A tingling sensation started in her toes and worked its way up her legs into her torso. “Goodbye, Dolly. Blessed be.”

Though Dolly’s tears fell in earnest now, Catherine couldn’t reach out and comfort her friend. She’d risen above the gathering, weightless and disembodied from Kindra’s mortal being.

There in the middle of the dance floor stood Michael, dressed in black, his shock of white-blond hair a striking contrast to the somberness of his clothing. Invisible to all those around him, his gaze was locked with Kindra’s.

“No!” Catherine could see all that was going on, but she was powerless to do anything about it.
Kindra moved toward Michael, her steps slow yet steady.

“Kindra? Are you all right?” Dolly held onto Kindra’s arm and walked alongside her.

“I’m fine,” she answered in a monotone voice, her gaze fixed in front of her.

“Shouldn’t we go back to your room, sweetheart?” Dolly tugged the woman’s arm to no avail.

“No, I think I’d like some fresh air.” By this time, they’d reached the lobby doors exiting out onto the busy streets of Hell’s Kitchen.

Dolly held tight to Kindra’s arm. “No, you can’t go out there.”

Kindra turned to Dolly, her face set and strangely at peace. “Let me go, Dolly. It’s what I want.”
“No. Catherine made me promise.”

“Go back to the party, Dolly.” She peeled Dolly’s hands off her arm and pushed through the door.
Catherine moved to follow, knowing she could breeze through the entrance as if glass, brick and mortar meant nothing.

Behind her, she heard a male voice call out, “Kindra!”

Sam pushed his way through the crowd, a frantic frown creasing his forehead.

Kindra didn’t stop. She followed Michael out onto the street.

Catherine burst through the walls of the building just as Kindra reached the curb to the busy street. “Michael, don’t do this.”

“It’s her time, Catherine. I’ve come to collect a soul, and I won’t leave without it.” Michael held out his hand to Kindra. “Come.”

Snippet Saturday - Winter

I love the holidays and winter. And I loved writing this story about a woman who wanted to be seen more as more than just a colleague. She decides to make a change...and boy does she do it in a big way! When I posted this, the ebook was on sale for $1.99 on Amazon! Check and see if it still  is...

Alluring Tales: Hot Holiday Nights
Billboard Babe
by Myla Jackson

Blurb

Brilliant advertising executive Angie Jordan (AJ) can capture the attention of the nation with her stellar advertising campaigns but she can't garner any notice from her sexy co-worker, Dan Adams. When her photographer friend convinces her she could launch her own campaign to win him over, she decides to do the wild thing and goes along with the idea. Killing two birds with one stone, she advertises the agency and hopes to get Daniel Adams's attention at the same time.

Workaholic Dan Adams likes advertising and loves when he sees a good idea. When he stares out his window at the mystery woman, he has to know her. He corners co-worker AJ for information, never suspecting the sexy woman on the billboard is none other than his office mate. The mystery woman haunts him and every other male in the country. But AJ isn't talking and the mystery woman remains anonymous. That night, the mystery woman shows up in his office clad in her sexy red dress and shows him what he's been missing as a workaholic.

Excerpt

Vince Mueller stepped out of his office two doors down from Daniel's. "Dan, my man. I see you and A.J. have been hard at work. I love the new campaign. It's freakin' fantastic." He clapped his hand against Daniel's back, grinning ear to ear. "Old Westerfield will be giving you two a raise by the end of the week." He pulled Daniel close. "What I want to know is where'd you find her? I want her full statistics and a phone number to go with it. Better yet, can you fit her in my Christmas stocking?"

Daniel sniffed his friend's breath. "Did you pull another all-nighter? Are you still high? What the hell are you talking about?"

"Don't play dumb with me. You and A.J. struck gold on this one. Mark my words. I'm just jealous I didn't find her first."

"Find who?" Daniel continued on to his office and tossed his briefcase onto his desk.

With a frown, Vince followed Daniel into the dark office and spotted A.J. standing in the corner by the windows. "Oh, there you are. Daniel's been playing dumb with me. What's the scoop?"

A.J. blinked, her gaze shooting from Daniel back to Vince like a shiny orb in a pinball machine.

Daniel's eyes narrowed. "What's Vince talking about?" Had she done something without running it by him first?

Her rosy cheeks screamed guilt and she reached up to push her glasses back up her nose. That was the thing Daniel liked most about A.J. She was a terrible liar, and she knew it. Okay, so that wasn't all he liked about A.J. The trim curve of her hips encased in pencil straight skirts, the full swell of her breasts beneath her business suit jackets and the long smooth line of her neck had him panting in sales meetings.

But he'd made a rule a long time ago never to mix business with pleasure. Although, on more than one occasion in the past two years, he'd been very tempted to break a few rules with A.J.. "Did you need me?" Okay, so that didn't quite come out right.

"I see you and Vince have things to discuss. What I had to say can wait." She ducked her head and scurried out of the room. If Daniel wasn't mistaken, A.J. was hiding something. Something big enough to make the self-determined young account executive leave the room as if her tail was on fire.

Vince whistled. "Damn she's got great legs."

"Leave A.J.'s legs alone," Daniel muttered, his attention on those firm, fabulous calves peeking from beneath her skirt, the incredibly tiny ankles and the arch of her feet in the low-heeled pumps.

"What do you want, Vince?"

For a moment Vince didn't answer, his head tipping thoughtfully to one side. "You've got a thing for her, don't you?" His focus shifted from the doorway back to Daniel.

"No, we just work together." His rule. He lived by it.

"You know if she was to lose the ugly glasses and let her hair down, I bet she'd be a knockout."

Daniel had no doubt about it. He'd wondered himself and had dreams about removing the glasses, business jacket and skirt. Fantasy. Pure fantasy. They lived and worked in the reality of this office. He dragged his gaze away from A.J.'s disappearing skirt to his friend. "What were you talking about when we came into my office?"

"Don't tell me she didn't tell you." Vince pounded Daniel's back. "Does our A.J. have a devilish side hidden beneath that prim and proper business act?"

"What the hell are you talking about?"

Vince marched straight to the window and tugged at the cord on the blinds lifting them all the way up. The cool winter sun shone into Daniel's office. "Her." Vince poked his finger toward the glass. "I want her number."

Daniel moved around Vince and stared at a woman staring back at him from a billboard-a billboard three times the size of a tour bus, stretching a full city block on the side of the huge warehouse building directly across from the Tate and Westerfield Advertising building. Her slinky red dress displayed more skin than it covered, the front dipping almost to her belly button, showing enough cleavage to cause a wreck.
Five stories below, tires shrieked and metal slammed against metal.

Snippet Saturday - Boots and Chaps

My choice...hmmmm....I still love me some....
Wouldn't you love to have a pair? Or a threesome?

BOOTS AND CHAPS
by Myla Jackson

Blurb
Welcome back to the Ugly Stick Saloon!

She gave up stripping to go legit…until three Kiowa cowboys bring on the down-and-dirty.

Jackson Gray Wolf is turning thirty, and what does he have to show for it? A ranch. No wife, no kids, no dates. He’s had his eye on the pretty owner of the Ugly Stick Saloon, but their one accidental encounter was interrupted before he could get her out of her take-me-now red cowboy boots.

Audrey Anderson isn’t in the market for a man. Been there, done that, has the scars to prove it. She retired her pole-dancing boots after purchasing the Ugly Stick Saloon, and now manages a stable of strippers. When she winds up one stripper short for a private party, she’s forced to slip on a mask and into the role of the mysterious Kiki.

Jackson didn’t want the birthday bash his twin brothers are throwing him, but his vow to ignore the rented stripper goes awry when she shows him exactly how far she’s willing to go—for all three of them.
Audrey can’t forget the sizzling heat between her and one sexy Kiowa in particular. Jackson. Trouble is, she’s not sure if he wants the bold, brassy Kiki, or if he’s ready for the wounded woman underneath.

Excerpt

Jackson Gray Wolf had just about had enough of the loud music, shouts from drunken cowboys and the smell of alcohol that permeated the air at the Ugly Stick Saloon. If not for the company of the owner-bartender, Audrey Anderson, he’d have left hours ago and returned to collect his twin brothers, Mark and Luke, at last call.

Mark whirled by on the dance floor to a lively two-step, a red-haired cowgirl tucked tightly against his body.

“About ready to head home?” Jackson called out as his brother turned and guided his partner toward the other end of the floor.

“Nope.” Mark twirled the girl and hollered, “Hell yeah!” to the song the band was playing.

Luke swung by with a pretty brunette. “Maybe an hour?” He grinned broadly. “Why aren’t you dancin’?”

Jackson shrugged. “Not in the mood.” Truth was, he hadn’t been in the mood for the past six months. With his thirtieth birthday fast approaching, he’d fallen into a funk the size of Texas and couldn’t figure out why. The girls there tonight were just that…girls. Young girls, silly girls, girls who giggled at nearly every word he said. Where were the more mature women?

“What’s got you down, Jackson?” Audrey plunked a cup of coffee in front of him and leaned over the counter, her brow wrinkled into a frown. “You haven’t been yourself lately.”

“Who said there’s somethin’ wrong?” He curled his fingers around the mug, letting the heat warm him.

“You used to be out there dancing with the twins like it was some kind of race.”

“I’m gettin’ too old for that nonsense.”

She straightened, her brows rising into the fringe of strawberry-blonde hair hanging down over her forehead. “Hey, if you’re gettin’ too old, what does that make me? A hag?”

Jackson’s gaze went to the V of Audrey’s blouse where the rounded curves of her breasts pushed up. “Far from it, baby.”

She tapped his hand. “Hey, the eyes are up here.”

A grin stretched Jackson’s lips wide, and he glanced up into Audrey’s baby-blue eyes. “I know that, but the view was better where I was at.”

“Jerk.” Despite her word, her eyes danced.

A customer leaned against the bar and ordered two whiskey shooters. Audrey turned to the array of bottles lining the wall behind the bar and reached for the brand of whiskey the man had asked for. No skinny minnie, Audrey had a curvy ass encased in skin-hugging, washed-out jeans. An ass a man could get his hands on.

Jackson’s groin tightened. Now here was a real woman, the kind he could sink his…er…teeth into.

Audrey’s snug jeans molded to the curve of her butt and thighs, narrowing down the length of her long, beautiful legs to tuck neatly into go-to-hell, bright red cowboy boots, which sported diamond-shaped metal studs. She wore those boots just about everywhere.

Born and raised in the Texas panhandle, Audrey knew what Jackson knew—the only way to get what you wanted was to work hard and maybe break a few well-chosen rules along the way. And she’d done just that to get this bar started. Modeled after the Coyote Ugly bar in New York City, Audrey had hired only the pretty waitresses who could dance, some who could sing and all of which could sling drinks like a pro. As a side, she provided strippers, both male and female, for private parties, bachelorette parties and special occasions.

Tough but fair is what each of her girls would say about her. And the tips were good, so none of them complained about Audrey’s hard-line approach. And to think, Audrey had accomplished all that in her twenties. She’d beat Jackson to thirty last year, celebrating her birthday with the two-year anniversary of the Ugly Stick Saloon. It had been a big blowout party with a live band, cheap beer and free rides home to those who couldn’t drive themselves.

She had this bar-owner thing down like it was second nature. Some men found it intimidating. Jackson thought Audrey was sexy as hell. He’d toyed with the idea of asking her out, only to talk himself out of it too many times to count, always waiting for the right moment, the right situation. That right moment had never happened. Now, it felt like he’d missed his chance.

Snippet Saturday - Celebration

BOOTS AND BAREBACK

Welcome back to the Ugly Stick Saloon!

Nothing says celebration like a bachelor party, right? Who wouldn't want to send the bride groom off to his wedding with a hangover, memories of a stripper and everything else he'd be missing once he got married. Hmmm. Maybe I didn't approach this right... Anyway, BOOTS AND BAREBACK, is about one lucky lady hired to provide the entertainment for a bachelor party. And there are three bachelors, not the groom, who want to win her hand. Who will claim her?

Leave a comment for a chance to win a download of BOOTS AND PROMISES, the prequel to BOOTS AND BAREBACK.

Old Man O’Brien’s plan to get his sons hitched is about to work a little too well…

Isabella Severs’s life is a shambles. When her fiancé dumped her, he took the horse she’d raised from a colt, and she wants him back. The horse, not the fiancé. Though she’s scrounging every penny working at the Ugly Stick Saloon, there’s no way she’s going to make enough to buy Sundance back before he’s put up for auction.

Until Old Man O’Brien makes her an offer she can’t refuse. One night of stripping for his son Jesse’s bachelor party, and all her problems will be solved.

Sean, Gabe and Tanner aren’t interested in settling with any one girl—until Isabella’s eye-popping performance on a mechanical horse gets their blood pumping. She’s perfect: sexy as hell, and well-suited to ranch life.

Yet as the brothers vie for her attention, they discover there’s a vulnerable woman beneath the sass. And instead of a winner-gets-the-girl competition, they find themselves joining forces to convince her she’s worthy of the love of a good man…or three.

Excerpt
Sean, Tanner and Gabe stood close, their hands clenched at their sides, their faces set in grim lines, their jeans bulging at the fly. Each man’s gaze locked on her exposed ass.

Isabella arched her back, bringing her breasts into view.

The three men sucked in breaths as one, their chests rising and falling as they exhaled.

Oh, yeah, the night could be a lot more interesting, if she chose to seduce all three.

A power surge like none she’d felt before ripped through Isabella, giving her the courage to ramp up the sex factor and make the lap dance more for the bachelor’s brothers than the engaged one, whose lap she occupied. She wiggled her bottom and rose to sit in his lap again, grinding her ass against the rising ridge in his jeans. Even the almost married man couldn’t resist a little action.

“You gotta stop that, or I’ll be divorced before I make it to the altar.” Jesse grabbed her chaps and pushed her toward his brothers. “Dance for my brothers. I’ll watch and think of my fiancée.”

Isabella stumbled toward Gabe, Tanner and Sean. Tanner caught her, his hands landing around her rib cage beneath the swell of her breasts.

“Let her dance with me. I’ll be nice.” A sandy-blond-haired man stepped forward, his hands held out toward Isabella.

Jesse shook his head. “No way, Ernie. Cassie claims you have arms like an octopus.”

“I’ll behave.” A dark-haired Hispanic man claimed. “Por favor, let her dance for me.”

“Mario, you’re married. Keep it that way.” Jesse grinned up at his brothers. “Besides, my brothers are smitten with the lovely Isabella. I’m curious to see which one she chooses.”

Isabella frowned.

“Am I a game to you O’Briens?” She brushed Tanner’s hands away and stood with her hands fisted on her hips.

“No.” All four brothers spoke at once.

“I just want to take you out. Get to know you,” Sean said.

“I want to date you,” Gabe said.

“Me too,” Tanner added. “Question is why you won’t go out with any of us?”

Her hands fell to her sides. Isabella had one good reason for not wanting to go out with them. And it had nothing to do with them, so she shrugged and lied. “I can’t decide which one I like best.”

Tanner’s frown deepened.

Gabe stared at her, eyes narrowed, not uttering a word.

Only Sean whooped. “The rest of you losers can back off. She likes us.”

“Let her dance.” Jesse stood, pushing his way through his brothers, giving Isabella some space. “This is my last night as a single man. There’s nothing I’d like more than to watch my brothers suffer, fighting over one woman. You don’t know how good it feels that I’m marrying the woman of my dreams and I’ll have her all to myself.” He waved toward Isabella. “Dance. Maybe that will help you decide which one of these boneheads you want.”

Isabella slipped away from the men and climbed the steps onto the stage, her breath labored. Had her lie been an untruth? Or had it been too close to the truth?

With the music twisting around the thoughts in her mind, she undulated and swayed her way toward the mechanical horse, choosing to ride to ease her troubled and confused thoughts.

She switched on the motor, grabbed the fake mane and swung up onto the fiberglass beast.

As the horse turned and bucked beneath her, Isabella held on, her body moving with the music and the rhythm of the beast. With the men watching, their gazes caressing her from top to bottom, heat rose from her core to spread throughout her body. Moisture pooled in her channel, and each rub against her pussy sent fractured spikes of electricity shooting straight to her center.

The riding crop found its way between her legs, tapping at the triangle of fabric covering her clit. She wanted to strip naked and ride bareback, her slit rubbing against the leather crop.

As the song came to an end, she slid off the mechanical horse and fled behind the curtain, so aroused she didn’t know how she’d go on for another dance. And loving every elevated sensation she was feeling.

Excerpt

With a worried frown, William blew out a long, steady breath. “Maybe you better sit down.”

Uh-oh. She didn’t like the way he was stalling. “What, did the landlord evict me and I stumbled out into the street, devastated and homeless?”

“No, nothing as simple as that.”

“That’s simple?” Double uh-oh. She perched on the edge of his bomber-jacket brown leather sofa. “Okay, I’m sitting. Just tell me already. I’m dying here.”

“You can’t die, Julie. You’re already dead.”

Her mouth dropped open. “Huh?” Who was he trying to kid? She was a walking, talking, gawking person sitting in his living room. “Uh, William. Have you been smoking some wacky weed or something? Hellooooo. If I’m here talking to you, how can I be dead?”

“It’s complicated.”

“Try me.”

“Then keep an open mind.” His eyebrows dropped toward the bridge of his nose in a V.

“I’m open.”

“Julie, last night, you were turned.”

“Turned?” She grasped for any possible meaning she could come up with for the unfamiliar phrase. “Like a fruit held too long on the branch turned?”

“No.”

“Like coming out of the closet gay turned?”

“No.”

“I give up.” She sat back against the couch, her arms crossing over her chest. “What do you mean?”
“Turned as in from human to vampire.”

She could have caught flies as low as her jaw dropped. “William, I’ve known you, what, a year and a half, maybe?”

“Yeah.”

“And this is the first time you’ve ever done anything remotely weird.”

“So?”

“So.” She pushed up from the couch and strode for the door. “I’ll cut you a break. I’m going home to shower and bed. When I wake up, maybe we can start this conversation all over. ‘Cause I know you didn’t just say I’ve been turned to a vampire, and I know you’re not crazy. I’m counting it as a really bizarre nightmare I’ll wake up from after a decent amount of sleep.”

Leave a comment for a chance to win this great prize package. I'm drawing the winner on Monday, Oct 1 and I'll post the winner here on the blog!
