GOOD AT BEING BAD

Look at what's coming out by my good friend Cathryn Fox!

GOOD AT BEING BAD
by Cathryn Fox

Blurb:

Public relations specialist Allison Cooper is more than ready to handle a career make-or-break assignment: to develop and market a charity calendar featuring hot men. Her only problem is Mr. July, a sexy cop who happens to be her ex-lover.
Trying to keep his image squeaky clean a must for her promotion raises all sorts of challenges, especially when this bad boy is throwing a little kink into her plan.
Image is the last thing on Carter James's mind. He agreed to be Mr. July on one condition that during his promo month, Allison never leaves his side. He wants her back, and to make that happen he needs her undivided attention to teach him good from bad. Unless bad is what the lady wants

Excerpt:

After excusing herself, she made her way into the back room, stopping at a few tables along the way to chat with her old friends. Happiness welled up inside her as she took a quick moment to catch up with the boys. She really did miss this place, and these men.
In the back she found Madison racking the balls, and Blaine had disappeared into the crowd. She couldn’t help but think that was a good thing. Unlike Carter who’d joined the force right out of high school, Blaine had joined later in life, and Carter always seemed agitated around the new rookie. Allison always assumed it had something to do with her, and the fact that she and Blaine went way back.
As she spoke quietly to Madison, detailing the events for next week’s launch at the beach, she could feel Carter’s eyes on her. It rattled her more than she liked to admit.
“Hey, sweet thing.”
Allison twisted around, and before she could greet Blaine, he swept her into his arms and spun her. What was it with cops and bear hugs anyway?
She laughed and felt a little dizzy when he set her back down. She was just about to say hello when Carter came up beside her. He put his arm around her waist, as if to lay claim, then pulled her in tight.
His voice held a challenge when he asked, “Is there something we can do for you, Blaine?”
Standing eye to eye, Blaine glared back at Carter and tension crackled in the air.
Allison jabbed Carter with her elbow, her anger spiking. “Stop it, Carter,” she said between clenched teeth, hating that he’d turned this into some sort of pissing contest.
Picking up on the tension, Madison slipped her arm into Blaine’s. “Come on, big boy. I’ll let you buy me a drink.” Allison gave Madison a grateful smile as she led Blaine away.
“She’s too good for you, pal. When are you going to stop being such a selfish bastard and realize that,” Blaine shot out as the crowd swallowed them up.
Carter made a move to follow but she stopped him. “Carter,” she warned. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“I don’t like the way he looks at you.”
She fixed him with a hard look of her own and fisted her hands. God, the man infuriated her sometimes. “You should stop sticking your nose in where it doesn’t belong.”
“And I don’t like the way he touches you,” he added.
“Who I touch and who touches me is none of your business.”
“Ally,” he reached for her, and when she held her hand up and pressed it to his chest to keep him at a distance, Carter winced and stepped back.
In the span of a second, she went from angry to concerned. But wasn’t that the way it always was when she was around Carter. He took her on an emotional roller-coaster ride and left her reeling. Then again, after feeling numb for the last four months, she couldn’t deny that it exhilarated her to feel something, anything.
She eyed him carefully. “What is it?”
He pulled his T-shirt away from his skin. “Burn.”
Allison shook her head and thought about the oil she’d coated him in earlier that afternoon. No wonder he was burnt. Deep-tanning oil provided very little protection from the blazing summer sun. “I’ll have to talk to Drake.” She lifted his T-shirt to take a look then crinkled her nose. “You need aloe. I have some at my place.”
When she caught his glance and the sexy, playful smile curving his mouth, she asked, “What?”
“Was that an invitation?”
She purposely whacked him and turned away, needing to distance herself from him as much as possible. Carter’s howl of pain sounded in her ears as she moved out of his reach.
“You deserved it.” She tossed the words over her shoulder and grabbed her beer from the bar before making her way to the outdoor deck overlooking the ocean. The old wooden steps groaned beneath her, and she shook her head and wondered if on some deeper level, it really was an invitation. Lord knows Freud would have a field day with her.
Working to forget how infuriating Carter could be at times, she leaned against the wooden rail and inhaled the salty sea air as she stared at the ocean. The wind rustled the planter beside her and the scent of flowers filled the night. As gulls squawked overhead, the sound mingled with the roar of the surf and she stopped to think about the last time she’d been on the beach. Honestly, she couldn’t even remember when she’d last gone for a swim or a run in the surf.
Carter was right, she’d been so busy burying herself in her work and trying to climb her way to the top that she hadn’t made time for personal pleasure. Just thinking about it now had her wanting to go squish the warm sand between her toes, to feel the cool Atlantic water rise up to meet her feet.
“I suppose I did.” The sound of Carter’s voice came from behind her.
“What?” Allison spun to see him leaning against the rail a few feet away. She should have known he’d follow her. Then again, maybe on some level she’d hoped he would.
With testosterone oozing from his every pore, Carter stood with his feet crossed at the ankles and his thumb hooked in his belt buckle, pulling his jeans low on his hips. In his other hand he held his beer, and she wondered how it would taste on his mouth.
“I suppose I did deserve it.” There was something about that sheepish expression he wore that made him look  sexy as hell. “Forgive me?”
“No.” She turned away from him and briefly closed her eyes, completely distressed by his presence and what it did to her traitorous body.
“Hey,” he said, crossing the deck to take up position beside her. “Come on. If I promise to play nice and bring Blaine a dozen donuts tomorrow, will you forgive me?”
“Since when do you ever play nice?”
He got close, too close, until their bodies were touching in that old familiar way that had her craving him with an intensity that made it hard to stay mad at him. When she turned toward him, he slipped his finger under her chin and tilted her face until they were eye to eye. His tone was soft, full of desire when he murmured, “I can play nice, Ally.”

Snippet Saturday - Emotional Scene

I love an emotional ending... How about you?

Altered States: Naked Prey
by Myla Jackson

Blurb

After his release from captivity in a secret gene-alteration hospital, Former Special Forces soldier, Ramone Osceola, retreats to his home in the Big Cypress Swamp of Florida. It's the only place he can get away from a society to which he no longer belongs. A society that wouldn't understand him in the form of a black panther.

Dr. Hannah Smith escapes Hell Hospital to find the only man who can help save her daughter, one of the very men whose genes she altered. Will he help her despite what she did to him? Or will he seek revenge and kill her for changing his life forever? Together, they search for Hannah's daughter and answers, and find them in a love that crosses the boundaries of man and beast.

Excerpt

“Is the problem that you can’t accept me for what I am?” Emily leaned over the back of the seat, her hand resting on Hannah’s shoulder. “Is that it? Will you hate what I’ve become?”

“No, baby.” She grasped her daughter’s hand. “I could never hate you. I love you more than life.”

“She shanghaied me into helping in this rescue, at great risk to herself.” Ramon smiled at Emily. “I’d say that’s proof enough.”

“Then don’t be sad,” Emily said, smoothing the hair back from Hannah’s forehead. “I can’t stand to see you like this.”

“I’m just sorry it had to happen to you. I wanted so much for you. A life, a family, love someday.”
Emily squeezed her hand. “Who’s to say I can’t have all that still?”

Ramon’s gaze met Hannah’s. “She’s right. Who’s to say she can’t have all that?”

What was he trying to say? Was she trying to read more into Ramon’s words than what she heard on the surface? Did he want her in his life? Had he learned to trust her? Hannah’s head spun with hope and the possibilities. Then she fell back to the earth. Get a grip, girl. He’s just trying to help you fix things with your daughter. “You’re right, honey,”

Hannah said, though her gaze never left Ramon. “With the right man, you can have all that.”

“I know, Mom. You were the one I was trying to convince. Frankly, I think it’s kinda cool to be part human and part animal. I’ve always wanted a fur coat but never wanted to kill an animal to get it.”

Laughter bubbled up inside Hannah and she shot a twisted smile at her daughter. “I can count on you to look at the bright side.”

“Yeah, I learned it from my mother.” Emily glanced ahead. “Now, what are we going to do to shut down Genetic Research Institute?”

“You two aren’t doing anything,” Ramon said, his mouth firming into a line. “I’m dropping you off in Austin and going on without you.”

The hope she’d felt a few moments early crashed around Hannah’s ears. He’d had no intention of continuing on with her.

“Like hell you are!” Emily leaned over the back of the seat. “We’re going.”

Emily’s declaration shocked Hannah out of her quickly growing depression. She’d just gotten her daughter back, she didn’t want to lose her all over again. “Maybe Ramon’s right. We aren’t trained to launch an attack on Hell Hospital.”

“I don’t care,” Emily said, crossing her arms over her chest. “I want to be a part of taking them down. I want to be there when Hell Hospital burns to the ground.”

The more Hannah thought about it, the more she agreed with Emily. Her daughter was old enough and had endured enough to make her own decisions. When she opened her mouth to protest Ramon’s edict, she halted when he raised his hand.

“It’s not up for discussion.” True to his word, Ramon refused to discuss his decision all the way to Austin where he left them standing in the parking lot of a transport rental company.

After all they had been through together, and the incredible sex they’d had, Hannah couldn’t believe he’d just drop them off and leave. For all she knew, she’d never see him again and that made her saddest of all. A knot formed in her throat, choking off any final goodbyes as she stared after his vehicle speeding out of sight. Even though she had her daughter back, her life still felt empty without Ramon.

“So, what’s it to be?” Emily asked. “Are we going after him?”

Snippet Saturday - Author's Choice

Ever dreamed of being a gambler on a river boat in the 1800's?
Join Rosalyn, Dalton and James on the Mississippi in

BOUND AND TIED:
RIVER BOUND

Blurb
For a hot and sexy historical western and menage, check it out!

What do a madame and a bounty hunter have in common? They want the same man.
When Rosalyn Smythe, aka Madame Rosie, steps aboard the Marie-Dearie, she hopes it’s the end of a year-long search for her runaway fiancé, Dalton Black. Her cabin holds a surprise: James McKendrick. Notorious bounty hunter, old lover…a man only too happy to help her clear the air—and her heart—of her murdering, thieving bastard fiancé once and for all.

In disguise as a riverboat gambler, Dalton is determined to find who framed him for killing two U.S. Army soldiers and who stole the gold they were carrying. He wants his life back—and his woman, who just happens to be on board and on the arm of his former best friend.

Convincing James he’s innocent is easier than winning back Rosalyn’s heart. Especially since Rosalyn seems to be enjoying their competition for her affections a little too much. There’s only one place to work out his dilemma. In bed.

As the sheets become unbearably hot, threads of evidence leading to the real killer are unraveling, leading toward one fateful card game—and one man who’s hell-bent on making sure Dalton has nothing left to lose.

Warning: This title contains hot ménage a trois scenes, bondage, and two men loving, sharing and fighting for the love of one woman with very specific bedroom desires and a a bordello full of experience to tempt any man beyond redemption.

Excerpt

As the owner of a very successful bordello, she’d seen it all, done it all and knew the odds of gambling with a gambler. Yet she’d fallen for Dalton Black harder than a teenage girl in love for the first time. And not because he was all that nice to her, but because he had the air of a rake, someone who would use her deliciously and walk away. Only he hadn’t walked away, he swam away.

She’d been so in love that she’d turned over her business to a manager, left her home and followed the man onto the river to live the life of a gypsy. Hell, she’d given up everything, and what did she have to show for it? When the marshal had come for Dalton, the lawman had tried to implicate Rosalyn as the gambler’s accomplice. It took some fancy talking and a slick escape plan to elude the law and escape to the wilds of Colorado gold rush country.

But she knew she couldn’t run forever. Rosalyn wanted closure on this particularly dark chapter of her life. And if it meant finding Dalton Black, so be it. She trembled, her core heating, the warmth spreading throughout her body at the thought of seeing the gambler again.

She stepped through the door of her stateroom, tugging the gloves from her fingers, anxious to touch herself, to relieve the ache building deep inside. She didn’t need a man, she didn’t need Dalton. Hell, she knew how to pleasure herself.

The door swung closed behind her, closing with a click.

“Hello, Roz.”

Rosalyn spun, her heart hammering against her rib cage, hope burgeoning. “Sweet Jesus!”

“No, not Jesus.” The man chuckled. “Has it been that long that you’ve forgotten me?”

Rosalyn’s pulse slowed only slightly as she got a good look at the man dressed in brown trousers, matching jacket, crisp white shirt and a dark cowboy hat slung low over his eyes. The mustache had been trimmed and a few lines had appeared next to his eyes, but there was no mistaking James McKendrick the bounty hunter.

“Oh, it’s you, James.” She turned her back on him and tossed her hat and gloves onto the quilt-covered bed, her heartbeat still galloping. Ah, dear, sweet James. She should have married James when he’d asked three years ago. But besides great sex, he didn’t bring quite the spark Dalton did. “What brings you to the river?”

“Same thing that brought you.”

Rosalyn faced the man, her brows rising. “A little gambling? I thought you’d given up gambling.”

“I have. I didn’t come to gamble and neither did you. I got word a man fitting Dalton Black’s description boarded the Marie-Dearie down in New Orleans. I suspect you heard the same.” His mouth tightened. “Like you, I came for Dalton.”

The look was new to her and gave her a jolt. He appeared almost dangerous when his face drew into a frown. With her body already on fire at the thought of seeing Dalton, Rosalyn pressed a hand to her belly, her pussy pulsing. “You think that’s why I came?”

“I don’t think it, I know it.”

“Well, you’re wrong.” Rosalyn turned her back on him. She’d never been able to lie to James. The three of them, James, Rosalyn and Dalton, had been so close, sharing everything from their dinner wine to their beds.

The sound of boots crossing the wooden floor made Rosalyn tense. Would he touch her like he had so many times before? Would he kiss her throat and run his hands over her body, pushing aside the clothing as he went? Her breathing quickened.

James’s cowboy hat flew across the room, landing on the washstand. His hands slipped around her waist, and he pulled her against his hard body.

Rosalyn sighed and leaned against him. How long had it been since she’d been able to lean on anyone? For six months, she’d lived on a mountain with two couples, sharing their lives and their beds, but not their hearts. All the while her own heart had been back east, aching for a man who may or may not have ever loved her. And another who’d shown her in every way that he did.

James.

He turned her in his arms and bent to take her lips in a gentle, soul-searching kiss.

Rosalyn twined her fingers around his neck, pulling him closer, needing his embrace, needing the strength he represented when she faced Dalton. James was everything a woman should want. Only it hadn’t been enough for this woman.

The kiss deepened, James’s tongue pushing past her teeth to claim hers, sliding along its length. One hand slipped down to her derriere, cupping her through the folds of her traveling gown and dragging her against him.

The ridge behind the buttons on his trousers pressed into her belly. The deep ache surged in her core. She couldn’t forget the nights she’d spent lying with James and Dalton on either side of her, snuggled safely between the two men she’d come to love. Men who accepted her in spite of her ties to the Rose Palace bordello.

When her lips left his, Rosalyn leaned her forehead against James’s chest. “What happened to us, James?”
“You made a choice.”

Snippet Saturday - Bad Boys at Night

Two naughty boys pulls some sexy stuff on Charli. Come see...
Two Can Play That Game

T

Blurb
Welcome back to the Ugly Stick Saloon for Charl's second adventure.
Charli Sutton had sex with a man in a black cowboy hat in Judge Stephen's pool and she can't figure out who it was. Return to the Ugly Stick Saloon with Charli as she struggles to come to grips with her dirty little tryst. Work through the clues as she tries to discover the identity of the stranger who'd rocked her world in the pool.

Secretly hoping for a repeat performance, she isn't disappointed when not one, but two men in black cowboy hats waylay her on the highway home to Temptation, granting her every woman's fantasy of having two hunky hotties at once.

Excerpt

A tall figure approached the side of her vehicle, wearing a dark cowboy hat, dark jeans and a black shirt.

Her heart leaped into her throat and the fingers curled around the steering wheel tightened. She drew in a deep breath and berated herself for even thinking about her cowboy when this patrolman was only out doing is job. Letting out the breath, she reached for the button to roll down the window. "What seems to be the problem?"

The lights behind him cast the man's face in the shadows. "Ma'am, please step out of your vehicle."

At that point, she noticed he wasn't wearing a badge or any other insignia proclaiming his connection with law enforcement. And that voice... The man's deep, rich tone sparked fire in Charli's blood and memories of last night. Her heart raced and she fought to form coherent words. "Am I being accused of something?"

"No, ma'am. Just routine orders," he said.

That bottomless, soul-melting voice flowed over her like liquid chocolate. The same voice she'd heard on the phone and in the pool the night before.

"We're here to search everyone passing on this road."

Search? The very word brought to mind endless possibilities. "Could you show me some credentials?" Her breath hitched in her chest, her body heating. It was him—her cowboy in the black hat. She peered upward, unable to make out his facial features. Damn. If she could see his identification, she might put a name to this man. "How do I know you are who you say you are?"

He reached into his back pocket, removed his wallet and flipped it open and closed in a flash. "Satisfied?"

"Hardly." She wouldn't be satisfied until she knew who he was and got a little more of what she'd received in the pool the previous night.

"Now, if you'll please step out of the car, my partner and I will get down to business."

Her hand on the door handle, she hesitated, her pulse pounding. "Partner?"

Another man, also wearing a black cowboy hat, stepped up to her door, grabbed the handle and pulled it open. "Yes, ma'am. If you'll step out of the vehicle, we can conduct this search and get you off in no time."

The second man was equally as tall and as broad-shouldered as her cowboy from the night before. A shiver of need whizzed across Charli's skin. Two cowboys? Was she dreaming again? Wasn't it every girl's fantasy to have two hunky cowboys at one time? Or was it only in her perverted mind?

Despite the inner warnings going off in her head, she couldn't stop herself from stepping out of the SUV. As soon as her feet touched the ground, she was yanked into the first cowboy's arms, kissed soundly, then spun away and pushed up against the hood of her vehicle.

Surprise had her reaching out to stop herself from crashing into the metal. Cool handcuffs snapped onto one wrist and then the other before she could protest. With her hands bound together, she tried to push away from the SUV and stand straight. "Hey, what's with the cuffs?"

"Routine, ma'am." Her cowboy leaned over her shoulder, his breath stirring the tendrils of hair over her ear. "Now spread your legs." He braced one of his boots between her feet and kicked her right foot outward.

Forced to spread them, Charli's belly tightened, her pulse racing. "What are you going to do?"

"We have to search you."

"For what?" she asked.

"For a few minutes. Now silence or we'll be forced to perform a strip search."

"Oh, boys, I don't think you know quite what you're doing," she teased, frustrated that she had her back to them and couldn't see their faces. "Are you even law enforcement officials?"

"Never said we were. Have a problem with that?" The second cowboy leaned close to her ear and pushed her long hair to the side. "My partner says you've broken a law or two lately. Sounds like a punishable offense." He nipped her earlobe.

Charli sucked in a sharp breath, the slight pain on her ear only making her hornier. "What exactly did he tell you?"

Her cowboy from the night before reached around her to tug her tank top hem from her denim shorts. "Only the truth. Nothing but the truth." He kissed the curve of her neck as his hands slipped beneath her shirt, sliding across her skin, inching upward.

Excerpt

Knowing what she had to do, Charli adjusted her skirt, checked her corset to make sure everything was where it should be and sufficiently covered. Then she trudged out of the storeroom into the saloon, ready to find Connor and set the record straight, no matter what it cost.

As she emerged into the ear-numbing din of loud music and cowboys hooting and hollering, her boss caught her arm and swung her toward the bar. “Oh, good, there you are. Time for the show.”

Charli planted her heels. “I can’t.”

“What do you mean you can’t? You have to. The men are expecting it, and you’re our only singer.”

“I need to find Connor.”

“It can wait until after the show.”

“No, it can’t.” Though Charli tried to argue, Audrey was already two steps ahead, dragging her behind.
Someone jammed a microphone into Charli's hands and the band struck up the lead-in music. Jackson Gray Wolf grabbed her around the middle and lifted her up onto the bar where Lacey, Kendall, Bella and Libby waited, dressed like Charli in their matching red corsets and black ruffled skirts. With the weight of her transgressions on her shoulders, Charli choked on the first words of the song. Heart pounding, her gaze panned the crowd, searching for Connor’s open, honest face, half-afraid she’d find it…even more fearful she wouldn’t.

Lacey danced over to where Charli leaned against a support column. “What’s wrong with you? The natives are getting impatient. Sing, girl, sing!”

As the band got into the spirit of the bump and grind music, Charli shook off her morose musings and threw her voice into the song, making it as sexy and raunchy as the throng expected and deserved.
The overwhelming majority of the crowd was randy cowboys, liquored up and excited from the adrenalin-kick of riding the rodeo. As the girls danced, the crowd of masked men surged toward the bar, some reaching out to touch.

Jackson stood at the front, warning the men as best he could over the roar of the music and hollering, but they weren’t listening.

One man grabbed Libby’s ankle and tried to yank her off the bar.
A shout rose from the back of the room.

Charli recognized Mark and Luke Gray Wolf attempting to swim through the crush to get to the bar.
Resident bartender and tough-as-nails biker-babe Libby had it under control. She pressed her free stiletto to the cowboy’s forehead and pushed, sending him flying back into the crowd of rabble-rousers.

A cheer went up at the same time as a scream rent the air.

Snippet Saturday - Character Sass

I love when a secondary character is sexy and sassy and helps the primary character along on her quest for love. Meet Lacey from
SEX ED
She's got it all.

Blurb
She wanted lessons in how to make a cowboy hot...
He was the cowboy to teach her

Kendall has loved sexy cowboy Ed Johnson since the first time she saw him taming wild horses. Now Kendall is twenty-one, legal and ready to be more than friends. In her bid to win his affections she asks Ed to give her a few Sex Education lessons about what makes a cowboy hot.
Ed promised Kendall's brother he'd keep an eye on his little sister while he's away defending their country. But Ed's pretty darn certain Sex Education lessons aren't what big brother had in mind. Caught between his pledge and a recently matured little sex kitten, Ed struggles to keep his word, while giving Kendall what she wants, Sex Ed.

Excerpt

Kendall stood at her door as Ed beat a hasty retreat down the steps to his apartment. No sooner had his door slammed than Lacey's door opened across the hall from Kendall.
"Well?" Lacey pushed Kendall into her apartment and closed the door behind her. "How'd it go?"
"I don't know." Kendall frowned. "He came in all angry and left like a cat with his tail on fire."
Lacey's face split in a grin. "Did you show him some boobs?"
Heat flooded Kendalls cheeks. She held her tank top in front of her like she had positioned it for Ed. "I did this side first." She switched to let the other side be exposed. "I did this side and when he answered the door, all I had was this." She dropped the shirt altogether and covered her breasts with her hands.
"Did he touch them?"
"Yes, and no." Kendalls chest rose and fell on a heartfelt sigh. "Only to cover them."
"Did he mention Cory leaving with his shirt off?"
"Not a word." Kendal dropped onto the sofa. "What am I doing wrong?"
Lacey laughed out loud. "Honey, you did it all right."
"Then why isn't he taking the hint?"
"Oh, he took it all right. I'll bet he's taking a really cold shower right now. Shh. Listen." Lacey cupped her fingers around her ear, a smile curling the corners of her lips. "Yup, he's in the shower." She clapped her hands together. "Now, as soon as the water shuts off, be at his door ready to launch Plan B."
"I don't know. He didn't seem too excited by the idea of me being naked."
"Of course, he isn't excited by the idea of you getting naked with anyone else. I take it he closed the blinds based on the noise I heard a minute ago?" She stood with her arms crossed.
"Yeah, so?" Kendall shrugged. "My brother would have done the same. Face it, the man has a brother complex. He can't touch me because he thinks of me as his kid sister."
"Then your job is to show him you're neither his sister, nor a kid."

Snippet Saturday - First Time Characters See Each Other

Blurb
She gave up stripping to go legit…until three Kiowa cowboys bring on the down-and-dirty.

Jackson Gray Wolf is turning thirty, and what does he have to show for it? A ranch. No wife, no kids, no dates. He’s had his eye on the pretty owner of the Ugly Stick Saloon, but their one accidental encounter was interrupted before he could get her out of her take-me-now red cowboy boots.

Audrey Anderson isn’t in the market for a man. Been there, done that, has the scars to prove it. She retired her pole-dancing boots after purchasing the Ugly Stick Saloon, and now manages a stable of strippers. When she winds up one stripper short for a private party, she’s forced to slip on a mask and into the role of the mysterious Kiki.

Jackson didn’t want the birthday bash his twin brothers are throwing him, but his vow to ignore the rented stripper goes awry when she shows him exactly how far she’s willing to go—for all three of them.

Audrey can’t forget the sizzling heat between her and one sexy Kiowa in particular. Jackson. Trouble is, she’s not sure if he wants the bold, brassy Kiki, or if he’s ready for the wounded woman underneath.

Excerpt

“What’s got you down, Jackson?” Audrey plunked a cup of coffee in front of him and leaned over the counter, her brow wrinkled into a frown. “You haven’t been yourself lately.”

“Who said there’s somethin’ wrong?” He curled his fingers around the mug, letting the heat warm him.
“You used to be out there dancing with the twins like it was some kind of race.”

“I’m gettin’ too old for that nonsense.”

She straightened, her brows rising into the fringe of strawberry-blonde hair hanging down over her forehead. “Hey, if you’re gettin’ too old, what does that make me? A hag?”

Jackson’s gaze went to the V of Audrey’s blouse where the rounded curves of her breasts pushed up. “Far from it, baby.”

She tapped his hand. “Hey, the eyes are up here.”

A grin stretched Jackson’s lips wide, and he glanced up into Audrey’s baby-blue eyes. “I know that, but the view was better where I was at.”

“Jerk.” Despite her word, her eyes danced.

A customer leaned against the bar and ordered two whisky shooters. Audrey turned to the array of bottles lining the wall behind the bar and reached for the brand of whisky the man had asked for. No skinny minny, Audrey had a curvy ass encased in skin-hugging, washed-out jeans. An ass a man could get his hands on.
Jackson’s groin tightened. Now here was a real woman, the kind he could sink his…er…teeth into.

Audrey’s snug jeans molded to the curve of her butt and thighs, narrowing down the length of her long, beautiful legs to tuck neatly into go-to-hell, bright red cowboy boots, which sported diamond-shaped metal studs. She wore those boots just about everywhere.

Born and raised in the Texas panhandle, Audrey knew what Jackson knew—the only way to get what you wanted was to work hard and maybe break a few well-chosen rules along the way. And she’d done just that to get this bar started. Modeled after the Coyote Ugly bar in New York City, Audrey had hired only the pretty waitresses who could dance, some who could sing and all of which could sling drinks like a pro. As a side, she provided strippers, both male and female, for private parties, bachelorette parties and special occasions.

Tough but fair is what each of her girls would say about her. And the tips were good, so none of them complained about Audrey’s hard-line approach. And to think, Audrey had accomplished all that in her twenties. She’d beat Jackson to thirty last year, celebrating her birthday with the two-year anniversary of the Ugly Stick Saloon. It had been a big blowout party with a live band, cheap beer and free rides home to those who couldn’t drive themselves.

She had this bar-owner thing down like it was second nature. Some men found it intimidating. Jackson thought Audrey was sexy as hell. He’d toyed with the idea of asking her out, only to talk himself out of it too many times to count, always waiting for the right moment, the right situation. That right moment had never happened. Now, it felt like he’d missed his chance.

SHE SHIFTERS Summary:

Take a walk on the wild side…
Following the success of her ground-breaking GIRLS WHO BITE: LESBIAN VAMPIRE EROTICA, best-selling author Delilah Devlin and her contributors deliver another stunning collection.

Shapeshifters—beings both human and animal—ignite our imaginations with visions of primal passions and insatiable hungers. Most commonly seen as dark, masculine demons, these sixteen stories investigate shapeshifter myths from around the world, and add fur and claws to a fresh girl-on-girl blending of physical power and inescapable desires.

Embrace your wild child as you journey through worlds of unexpected delights with some of today’s hottest erotic romance authors, including Sacchi Green, Christine d’Abo, Adele Dubois and Myla Jackson. Fly atop the Tower of London in Paisley Smith’s “The Night Crow.” In Anna Meadows’ “Verde,” feel the burn of a hot Mexican summer. Experience the raw lash of a dragon’s tail in “Scorched Retribution,” then linger in the sensual delights of a furry convention in “She’s Furry Yiffy”.

Prepare to be embraced inside the warm, feathered wings of a phoenix, race through a rain forest morphing from tiger to kingfisher, and watch your lover surrender her seal’s pelt to walk hand-in-hand with you along a cold and lonely shore.
