Free Reads Contest

I'm ready to start writing a free read and want help coming up with an idea. What do you all want in the way of a sexy story you can get for free?
What do you like best.

Contemporary cowboys
Wolf shifters
Vampires
Witches
Historical
Mix of paranormals

Romantic comedy

The selections are endless, the time is limited and I’m still on the fence about what to write. It’s not for lack of an idea, it’s drinking from the fire hose of ideas. Sigh…

Help me by choosing a premise that pleases you, a genre that gets you going, characters that you can’t let go. Leave a comment and let me know your choice of suggestions and you’ll be entered in a drawing for a $20 gift card from Amazon.com. Then join Myla Jackson Newsletter to watch my free read grow!

I'll announce the winner in my February Newsletter so don't forget to join the newsletter.

Hello Myla. When I read romance the hero has to be all alpha. But I don’t want a mean alpha male. I like what I call a ‘teddy bear alpha’ in that they are complete marshmallows when it comes to the heroine but tough as nails when they have to be with anyone else.

I love to read about the contemporary cowboy.

Hot, funny contemporary cops.
Alpha shape shifting cowboys.

I'm sure whatever you decide it will be fantastic. As long as the men are sexy and protective and treat their women with respect.

I love cowboys but could you mix them up with some vampires too?

Ok! I like quick, smooth books. I like men who are men. I like women who are strong and independent, smart and can tell a man what they want. No whiny women for me! I want the story to build up and make sense. It doesn't need a cut and dry ending but it must lead somewhere. I happen to love paranormal. Of course, a cowboy never hurt a story. And, it doesn't really matter if it is contemporary or historical. In fact, my newest little obsession is Steam Punk. I have signed up for your newsletter. I can hardly wait to see what you come up with!

My first response was going to be contemporary cowboys, but I'm intrigued by mixed paranormal and witches as well. I love funny mixed with sexy, so I hope you include it in which ever story you decide to tell!!

I like the contemporary comedy idea for a book. I love a romantic story with a good laugh.
Good luck deciding!

Hi, Myla! I'm voting for cowboys--I do love yours. On the other hand, if another genre appeals to you, I know that I'd love reading you write that, too! I agree with Viking Princess that alpha males who end up being softies with their women are very fun to read. I do love an independent heroine, too, but with the caveat that she is smart enough to know when she needs help--none of those huge-chip-on-my-shoulder-of-course-I-can-handle-tackling-the-bad-guys-all-by-myself girls, OK? I do love it when the couple start out not being able to stand each other and then come to respect each other because they see the other in action :)

Thanks for taking our opinions into consideration, Myla! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

hi myla
i love reading about hot cowboys or any type of shape shifter.
also would like some drama not like someone is trying to kill the girl more like he or she catches the other cheating and they have to work it out. also lots of great sex :)

I love a Romantic comedy with a mix of paranormals {{shrugs}} They're just something I can't seem to pass up when I'm in the store.
But Historicals and Cowboys are very close second choice. Plus I tend to alternate the genres so I don't tire myself on them. Anyway, I love you stories so whatever you decide to gift us with we'll be perfectly happy!

Hi Myla! I usually read a lot of historical romance. Lol. But mixing up a story isn't bad either. I have read plenty of novels where it can take you back in time to where cowboys and ladies coexisted. Strong independent women against narrow-minded men! Lol. I love a good comedy as well... Comedy is a romance is actually very good.

I'm really into Historicals and cowboys right now, but I can read about anything. I like the guy to be tough except when it comes to his woman and I agree no whiney heroine(yuck). Going to sign up for your newsletter!

I say do a romance where the male is a shifter or a vamp and the female is either or (opposite) so if he is vamp she is a werewolf/werecat or something...

Ok, I have one for you. Maybe you should write about a time-traveling character. A mysterious character that's hiding something from the love interest. The main character gets into an accident and wakes up from a coma in a different time (past or future doesn't matter). Not some "jump in the time machine" type time traveler.

I want witches. We don't have that many stories with witches in it.

Myls -

I'd love to see a Historical WITH comedy in the plot. I remember reading a book years ago with this and had friends who liked all different genres think it was terrific.

With all that's going on in the world today I think we all could use a little comedy put into the mix.

The majority of you wanted Contemporary, Alpha hero Cowboys with a possible paranormal shifter/vampire twist. Sounds like fun! Thanks for all the input and watch my blog for the first installment in March.

And the winner of the Amazon gift card is Estella Kissell! Contact me to claim your prize.
